Roads Division

The DPW provides for the maintenance and repair of all municipal public roads within the Borough as well as the regulation, maintenance, alteration and repair of curbs, gutters and encroachments by objects and structures above and below such streets in accordance with the ordinances of the Borough.

Moonachie Road, Moonachie Avenue, and Redneck Ave are County Roads, and the Borough assists the county in some functions.

Some of the maintenance tasks performed by the road crews are emergency pothole patching, box-outs of pavement, and small pavement repairs. They also maintain curbs, and repairs, rebuilds and cleans inlets, manholes and storm drain pipes.

The DPW crew maintains small streams, brooks and culverts throughout the Boro that are under Boro control. This maintenance consists of the removal of various debris (branches, stumps, and construction material) and growth which obstructs stream flow.

The DPW is responsible for maintaining, servicing, repairing, installing and removing street signs and regulatory traffic control signs in proper condition, in conformance with current regulations. This crew also provides for the line striping and pavement markings on Boro streets.

We also provide for and regulate snow removal or salting operations. During the snow season, all DPW employees are engaged in snow removal.
